With less than two days remaining in the legislative session and no agreement on a comprehensive transportation bill, Minnesota AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Steve Hunter issued the following statement:
“People across Minnesota and their elected leaders have all agreed that our transportation system is in disrepair. Workers need safe and efficient ways to drive, ride, bike, or walk to work. Businesses need a transportation system that will effectively move goods to market.
Fixing our transportation system now will create jobs and improve Minnesota’s economy. Waiting yet another year will only increase costs and put our transportation system in even more need of repair. Legislators still have time to compromise on a bi-partisan, long-term, comprehensive, state-wide transportation bill with dedicated funding.
We urge lawmakers to take a bold step forward and fix Minnesota’s transportation system this year.”
